Frogeteer made by me.

Originaly I intended this picture to include in the collages, but I liked it so much, that I wanted to show it as a stand-alone.

Enjoy!

This is a commission work ordered via my Etsy listing www.etsy.com/de/listing/126830…?

The customer wanted to customize it a little, so that the gun would fit better to his Steampunk Musketeer outfit.
I found the idea of the musketeering so intriguing, that from a 'little' customization by including some heraldry with the fleur-de-lis, it became an elaborate effort, that went even so far to sculpt a copy of the customers hat including goggles and feather in miniaturized version for the Frogeteer.

Furthermore as I researched the historic musketeers (I always try to base my stuff on historic background), I discovered that another typical trademark was their sash/belt with powdercaps attached to it. These powdercaps contained exactly the amount of powder for one shot and thus allowed them in the battlefield faster reloading of those front-loaded muskets.
Because of this I also made such a sash from brass with a couple of miniature brass powdercaps dangling from it as well.
The Fleur de lis were added to the body of the Frog as well as replacing the standard bolts the straps are usually attached with.

The wrapper is made from fine genuine leather with a beautiful antique finish. All edges were done, like the Lady Froggy before, in seamless technique and also the patch and metal base plate for stability is now set inside the wrapper, thus eliminating these seams of the original Froggy as well, without any loss of stability.

The Frog itself is made from brass, steel, plastic, FIMO classic, some gold thread and a down feather.

Although due to its details it would do fine as a static piece, it is nevertheless fully wearable and premiered as part of Alain Dumas du Morlaix's Steampunk Musketeer outfit on the Dutch European Steampunk Convetion at FantasiaFest 2013.
